Description:

Your Tasks:

Business Support:

  • Support European business IT or business end (key) users by solving incidents and report about this to incident manager;
  • Support daily BI operations by monitoring scheduled activities, logs and data quality;
  • Assist in maintaining end user documentation and training material of BI applications.
     

BI Design:

  • Perform technical impact analysis for proposed changes;
  • Define technical/functional solutions;
  • Document BI design components (e.g. a report, or ETL job) based on change request;
  • Contribute to design standards/procedures and apply these consistently;
  • Maintain technical documentation and (user) training material.

BI Development and Testing:

  • Develop BI front-end solutions (Cognos reports, cubes, dashboard etc.) according to specifications and development standards;
  • Support external developers by explaining and communicating the design;
  • Define/document Test Plans and/or review/validated externally produced Test Plan;
  • Test and evaluate developed solutions (both internal and external developed components/solutions);
  • Support Users’ Acceptance tests preparation and execution.

BI continuity support:

  • Define and execute routine health checks on the Ricoh BI systems;
  • Contribute to the definition of monitoring needs and support Application Support manager in implementing them.

Internal procedure improvement:

  • Monitor efficiency of current development standards and advise on possible improvement;
  • Define and implement technical documentation templates.

Project Support:

  • Participate in various projects to deliver new BI solutions.

This company, located in Amstelveen, is the co-located EMEA headquarters of the Japanese leading global manufacturer of multifunctional office (automation) equipment. They are responsible for coordinating the marketing and service of Multi Functional Products, copiers, printers, scanners as well as network and software support. At the Amstelveen office approximately 350 employees of different nationalities are working in a dynamic and challenging working environment with many international business partners and customer driven colleagues. For the Service Delivery / Application Support department of this company we are currently looking for a Business Intelligence Engineer.

You will be working for the Service Delivery department. This department will support and maintain all centrally hosted infrastructure and business applications which are deployed across Europe. The objective is to meet the SLA’s, which have been agreed with the business. Application Support will specifically be responsible for all applications and DWH related services operations, following agreed SLA’s.

As BI Engineer your daily job has responsibilities and tasks in the fields of BI design, BI development & testing, procedure improvement and project support.

You will provide support to BI users and perform maintenance to the BI solution in line with business requirements and service level agreements.
Moreover, you are expected to participate in identification/prototyping of “ad hoc” solutions, to contribute to internal Service Delivery projects and to be able to fully support (back-end and front-end) the BI processes maintained within Application Support. Of course you will also be involved in BI related projects.

Profile:

We are looking for a TEAMPLAYER who recognises him/herselve in the following skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT or business or relevant experience;
  • At least 3 years experience with BI development (DWH AND reporting) through the full development cycle;
  • Required IT tools knowledge: Cognos v8, IBM WebSphere DataStage, SQL, Oracle, MS Office, DB2;
  • Excellent analytical skills;
  • Pro active and service minded;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills (English);
  • General understanding of business intelligence concepts;
  • General understanding of data modelling;
  • Desirable: ITIL Fundamentals.
